SILVER STAR DAY A GREAT SUCCESS IN ALASKA

Gov. Sarah Palin speaks on the steps of the Capitol after signing a proclamation to declare Silver Star Day. Silver Star Day is a day of recognition to honor wounded members of the armed forces from all wars. Standing behind Palin, from left, are veterans John Wilkins, Clayton Love, Howard Colbert, Tim Armstrong, Juneau Mayor Bruce Botelho, U.S. Coast Guard Rear Admiral Gene Brooks and Army National Guard Major Joel T. Gilbert. "We must never forget our military and veterans wounded in action," Palin said. "Their courage inspires us and their sacrifices make it possible for others to know freedom. Alaska is blessed with a vibrant military and veter an community and it is an honor to recognize those who have given so much for their fellow citizens."
